Organized Memorial Tribute
In May of 2025, my community and church suffered the loss of our long time pastor, Brother John Morgan, of 47 years. That following football season, I had the honor and privilege of organizing a Memorial Tribute at the first home football game of the 2025 season in honor of him, and his lovely wife. I coordinated with school administration and other faculty to plan the tribute, which recognized his longtime role as the team’s stat keeper, while also honoring the years he served the town of Collinsville as a whole. The event served as a way to create a moment that celebrated his impact and legacy within both the church and school.
I am not including this “project” on here as a way to gain recognition for it. I wanted to include it to continue sharing the legacy he left behind. I was fortunate enough to sit under this man for my entire life, and watch the way he and his wife truly cared and ministered to others. Their faithfulness has left a permanent imprint on my life, and I will always be thankful to have known them both so personally.
I also would like to include the link to his memorial fund. This fund serves as an annual scholarship for one graduating senior at Collinsville High School. He too was very passionate about education and the doors it could open for people. Please consider donating to help further his mission.
Capstone Communication Day
For Capstone Communication Day, I helped organize and execute the event to ensure a meaningful experience for visiting high school students. I coordinated with faculty, staff, and student volunteers to manage event logistics, including check-in, campus tours, and breakout sessions. I assisted with setting up informational booths, distributing materials, and guiding students to sessions highlighting majors, internships, and student involvement opportunities within C&IS. I also engaged directly with prospective students and their families, sharing my personal experiences in the college and answering questions about academic programs, campus life, and the resources available at The University of Alabama.
Created position as a High School Student Mentor for Next Step Opportunities through UA
I created and served in the role of High School Student Mentor for Next Step Opportunities through The University of Alabama, guiding students in academic and career readiness while providing peer support and encouragement. I offered resume advice and cover letter training and editing. I also met with individual students on my own time to give them the opportunity to ask questions about the college application and scholarship application process.
Organized Community Church Back-to-School event for 5th-12th grade students
This event was especially fun for me because it was the youth group I grew up in. Being able to give back and help organize something that I once looked forward to as a student made it really meaningful, and helped me understand how important it is to pour into the youth of the area in which you live. Watching younger students enjoy the event the same way I did when I was their age made the whole experience feel full circle and really special.
I also learned very quickly how much goes into something like this. The amount of preparation required to ensure it would be a good experience took weeks. I handled overseeing all aspects of planning and execution. My responsibilities included coordinating with church leaders and volunteers, scheduling activities, designing flyers and promotional materials, and managing social media outreach to ensure strong attendance. I reached out to local schools and families to spread awareness, prepared supplies and food for students, set up the event space, and provided hands-on support on the day of the event to make sure everything ran smoothly.
Dekalb County Schools Recruitment Event
I orchestrated the DeKalb County Schools Recruitment Event, a county-wide outreach program designed to connect high school students with colleges, universities, and career opportunities. I coordinated with school administrators, college representatives, and community partners to plan every aspect of the event—from scheduling and logistics to promotion and setup. My responsibilities included organizing recruiter participation, designing and distributing event materials, managing communication with schools, and ensuring a smooth flow of activities throughout the day. The event successfully provided hundreds of students the opportunity to meet recruiters, explore academic programs, and discover potential pathways for their future education and careers.
Organized Grant Approved Concert located in the Historic Cricket Theatre of Collinsville, AL
I volunteered my time to help organize grant-approved concerts at the Historic Cricket Theatre in Collinsville, AL. My responsibilities included contacting bands and performers for upcoming events, designing flyers and promotional materials, managing all social media posts, and photographing each event. In addition, I provided on-site support during the concerts by assisting with concessions and ensuring smooth operations in any area where help was needed.
85 Different High School UA Tours and College Visits
I conducted 85 high school, community college, and elementary school visits over the course of two years. This included leading tours and hosting college visits at The University of Alabama, where I engaged with prospective students and families by sharing campus resources, student life experiences, and academic opportunities to support recruitment efforts.
Organized class fundraiser for Secret Meals For Hunger Children Partnered with The Alabama Credit Union
I was a part of a team of nine UA students who organized a fundraiser in partnership with The Alabama Credit Union to support Secret Meals for Hungry Children. I coordinated planning, promotion, and outreach efforts to raise awareness of childhood food insecurity while fostering community engagement and student involvement. Our team raised over $3,000 for this cause and helped feed more than 22 children for an entire school year.
Traveled to multiple in-state and out-of-state locations to recruit for the College of Communication and Information Sciences at UA.
I have been blessed with so many opportunities throughout my time at UA, but one of my favorites have been travel recruitment and truly understanding what it means to become the face of a program.
My responsibilities included representing the college at high schools, community colleges, and college fairs; giving presentations to prospective students and families; answering questions about programs, scholarships, and campus life; and sharing my own experiences as a student. I coordinated with faculty, staff, and admissions teams to provide accurate information, distributed promotional materials, and followed up with interested students. I also managed travel logistics, adapted presentations to different audiences, and worked to build meaningful connections that encouraged students to consider UA as their next step.
